Data Center Administrator

Kinnser Software is seeking an exceptional Data Center Administrator. The Data Center Administrator role is responsible for installing, maintaining and monitoring the operation of the organization's local and wide area networks and servers. This includes network and telecom hardware / software that is located both at the corporate and co-location facilities.

About the Position

Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure and Security, the Data Center Administrator will oversee the entire organization's local and wide area networks and servers.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Recommends and implements LAN/WAN policies and standards and ensures adherence to security procedures; maintains contact with outside organizations in the maintenance, service and/or purchases for the LAN/WAN.
  • Implements, maintains and troubleshoots virtualization infrastructure (VMware).
  • Implements, maintains and troubleshoots iSCSI/FC SAN infrastructure.
  • Supports both the Physical and Virtual Infrastructure of the organization and its facilities.
  • Assists in the infrastructure of a large data center environment.
  • Assists the Director of Infrastructure and Security with high-level technology planning and design,accurately defining short and long-term objectives and present/future resource requirements.
  • Assists with the tactical implementation of any technology project and provides on-going technology support.
  • Installs Operating System releases and system upgrades for Windows servers; evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
  • Monitors infrastructure and co-Location hardware and software to ensure a high level of data integrity and availability.
  • Performs server evaluation and optimization on a regular basis.
  • Surveys performance needs and goals of LAN/WAN users.
  • Insures Internet/Intranet connectivity and continuity.
  • Maintains documentation of the physical and logical data center network.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of corporate office and data center assets.
  • Participates in data center on-call rotation.
  • Maintains data center facility, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

About Candidates

Specific qualifications include:

  • Strong background in planning, deploying and maintaining Microsoft products, especially Windows client/server technologies and Active Directory.
  • Experience with iSCSI/FC SAN or NAS.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies.
  • Strong background in TCP/IP networking software and hardware including Switches and Firewalls.
  • Practical experience installing and configuring network firewalls and switches
  • Experience in hardware and software installation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with installation, configuration and support of COTS applications (Antivirus, MS Office, Browsers, etc.).
  • Must have an extensive knowledge of computer components, computer system builds and configuration and component and software compatibility.
  • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in Information Technology and ability to establish guidelines.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead and/or act as part of a team in a customer-driven, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be dependable, reliable, courteous and prompt with a strong work ethic.
  • Must be available for the after-hour on call rotation schedule.
  • Excellent and effective customer service, communication and interaction skills.
  • Additional Skills that are an added plus:
    • Multi-platform experience with Windows, Mac OS X and Linux
    • Experience with VOIP technologies
    • HIPAA and healthcare business practice knowledge
    • Knowledge of software development processes and web applications.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or 5+ years of related experience and / or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
