Desktop Support Technician
Kinnser Software is seeking a Desktop Support Technician who will support the company’s employees’ technical requests and needs for hardware such as computers, telephones, printers, etc. This person will also be tasked with software installations and updates, as well as server optimization.

About the Position
The Desktop Support Technician will report to the Systems Administrator and will be responsible for the following:
- Set up, maintain and troubleshoot Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS desktop, notebook computers and servers
- Support and maintenance of corporate phone system
- Set up and configure printers and other peripherals
- Installation, configuration and support of COTS applications (Antivirus, MS Office, Browsers, etc.)
- Document issue resolution using the help desk ticketing system
- Maintain excellent communication with all end users and members of the technology department
- Work with outside vendors as needed
- Evaluate and install patches; resolve software related problems
- Perform client and server evaluation and optimization on a regular basis
- Participate in departmental on-call rotation
- Perform other duties as assigned
About Candidates
Our ideal candidate will possess some experience in desktop support and will be interested in furthering his/her career in information technology. Specific qualifications include:
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical people
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with setup, configuration, troubleshooting of hardware and software in a network environment (Windows and Mac OS)
- Must have an extensive knowledge of computer components, computer system builds/configurations and software compatibility
- Detail oriented with excellent analytical skills
- Ability to lead and/or act as part of a team
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and related network services (i.e. DNS, SMTP, DHCP, etc)
- Knowledge of Active Directory concepts
- Must be dependable, reliable, courteous and prompt with a strong work ethic
- Must be physically able to lift up to 40 pounds
Desired Additional Experience
- At least one of the following certifications: MCITP, A+, MCP, MCDST or equivalent experience
- Multi-platform experience with Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux
- Experience with VOIP technologies
- HIPAA and healthcare business practice knowledge
- IT security principles and best practices
